Teaching Philosophy
I am guided in my teaching philosophy by a quote from Benjamin Franklin: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” I focus on experiential learning that links course materials to personal goals and connects theoretical knowledge to practical applications. My industry experience has armed me with real-world examples to connect theory with practice in a wide range of marketing courses.Teaching Experience

"Excellent instruction, Rory always responded to my questions with detailed explanations that not only answered the question, but increased my knowledge. I appreciated how the assignments were discussed in class after marking. I enjoyed this class because the instructor put in a lot of effort to make the class engaging despite the online format."
"I think Professor Waisman is doing a great job! I can tell he really cares about this course and I would say to keep teaching with an enthusiastic attitude and know that he's teaching in a point of history that's new for all of us." "Rory has been great in providing many tools for his student's success. Some of the topics seem redundant since it is the same material for quizzes, lecture recordings, power points and in-class. However, this gives students many opportunities to succeed in the course." "I enjoyed this course. I had to drop it last semester, so I am glad I took it with Rory instead. Rory is super nice and well prepared. Rory is great, but sometimes can be a bit awkward. I think he definitely got less awkward as the semester went on. Rory is super friendly and enjoyable." "Rory is an exceptional professor. He is extremely professional, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, polite, and organized. He brings passion to each and every lecture, and I feel that he truly cares about my performance and understanding of course material. Many professors give off the impression that they are teaching because it is their job, but don't care how students do. Rory, on the other hand, cares about his students, and during the tough times of Covid-19 and online school, it makes a difference. That he shows up with a smile on his face every lecture, and makes an effort to engage his students and enhance their experience in the class, makes this course better. Marketing research isn't exactly the most riveting topic, yet Rory displays passion for the subject when he teaches it, which makes it easier to be engaged as a student. I have appreciated Rory's passion and effort this semester, and he should be acknowledged for his outstanding teaching." |
